TOTAL IMPACT: 239,329.8 lbs of CO2 reduced!
We've reached the conclusion of the Fall Spare Our Planet Interschool Competition and the results are
very impressive! The students reduced their transportation related carbon impact by over 239,000 pounds
of CO2 in just six weeks! Students adopted more sustainable transportation choices - such as walking,
biking, and using public transportation - while they spread their green message to their friends. That's the
equivalent of...
- 18X Removing 18 CARS from the road for 1 year, or...
- 13X Taking 13 HOMES off the grid for 1 year, or...
- 11x Saving a section of AMazon Rainforest the size of 11 FOOTBALL FIELDS
This contest is part of a planned expansion of the initiative to high schools nationwide. The goal
of Go Green Foundation is to involve hopefully as many as 2 million students nationwide by
2012. To read a detailed run-down of our results, click here!

We have learned how the use of technology, a sense of commitment, and a competitive spirit can
teach students they are in control of their choices, and that they can make a difference. The students
are empowered to make choices that leave a smaller carbon footprint, and they begin to see that
making better choices is part of the solution. It’s a new, higher level of awareness for students.
Our objective is to promote personal behavior alternatives to carbon-intense consumption and lifestyle
habits, to provide young people a voice, and empower them to play a significant role in developing
climate change solutions. Special thanks to the educators at all the participating schools for their
support, and to all the students that made the commitment to go green.
